6. BECOMING AN EFFECTIVE WRITER


I. Why Do You Need To Create Effective Content

What is effective content?

At the core effective content is relevant and useful to your audience — your reader. It makes your reader, not your company and it's revenue targets and goals your number one priority. Your writing should use your audience's language and show that you understand their pain points, challenges and goals.

What should your writing be?

Writing should be like a knife that cuts through the noise.  Your writing has to be helpful and useful.
What should your writing do?
Your writing should slow the person down and prevent them from clicking another link. It has to get them to stop, read, think, learn and consider what you have to say.

II. How Can You Attract and Engage People with Effective Content?

How do you write an attention-grabbing headline?

What kind of tone do you need to use?

Why should your writing help the reader do something?

Headlines should be specific, make a promise to the reader
 of how it will benefit them and if possible, prompt the viewer to rad the piece right away.

Start by coming up with a working title, something that will guide the structure and focus the subject of the content.

Once you finish the piece, you will come back to this title and refine it to be more aligned with the direction you ended up talking in the post.

How can your writing add to the conversation?

The character is the connection between you, the storyteller and your audience.

What are examples of writing structures?

It’s not just what you say through your website or content, but the entire experience that your company has to offer based on your buyer personas needs.

David Ogilvy, one of the most well-known advertisers of all time, once said, “tell the truth, but make it fascinating.” 

Because, you can make any industry, any product, or any service stand out and that’s done with providing an experience.

If your story lacks conflict, it is not a story. Instead, it is a pitch, a tag line, a unique selling proposition or plain old statement.

The conflict should fit your prospect's problems, needs and your prospect's buyers journey stage.
